In August 2023, CCF hosted the 2nd Annual Communicators Retreat in Charleston, South Carolina. More than 70 House and Senate communicators, energy industry leaders, and CCF partners gathered for three days of programming on how to best communicate a conservative climate message.
The Retreat included educational panel discussions and field tours to highlight how the coastal community of Charleston is mitigating the impacts of climate change, from extreme flooding to ecosystem destruction, and communicating their efforts to local citizens.
In addition to networking opportunities, the group saw firsthand the seawall erosion of the Charleston battery, a tour of the Charleston harbor, and how the Citadel’s new Center for Climate Studies is working to improve military readiness and shoreline resilience.
